A MUM of six – who is pregnant with her seventh child – has revealed how they make room in their one-bed home.

The woman, who goes by Resilient Jenkins on social media, shared a clip of her turning the dining room into an extra bedroom to make more space.

People were stunned she decided to get pregnant again when her kids were already sleeping in the front room.[/caption]

But despite the mum transforming the room, many people were quick to judge her for having yet another child when she clearly didn’t have a big enough house.

She said: “Our family of six, going on seven, live in a one-bedroom apartment.

“As the kids grow older, that means we constantly have to adapt our environment to give them more means for privacy and extra space.”

The mum then began to move the dining room table and chairs, making way for a cot and wardrobes to put her children’s clothes in.

To the right, where a living room would be, she had a king-sized mattress on the floor along with another cot.

The pregnant mum added that she was just grateful to have a roof over their heads and hit back at those who judged their living situation.

She said: “My perception is, judgment comes from a place of not having the experience.

“When you’ve experienced enough, you generally don’t judge people.”

She added that she was aware she looked like she was “roughing it” and said that was because she always put her kids first.

While there were plenty of beds and cots in the front room, there was another room in the house, a small bedroom that she and her partner had as a bedroom.

She captioned the video: “You do what you gotta do in small space living, especially when you have a larger family.”

The clip posted to her TikTok account @jenkinsresiliencecrew has since gone viral with over five million views and 166k likes.

People were quick to share their thoughts in the comments – with many in agreement the family should reevaluate their decisions.

One wrote: “I love the part where you explained why you continue to put more children in this situation.”

Another commented: “Serious question? Why are y’all having more?”

Bedroom sharing in the UK

In the UK, the number of children that can share a bedroom is influenced by several factors, including the size of the room and the ages and genders of the children. The Housing Act 1985 provides guidelines on overcrowding, which states that:

  • A room used as a bedroom must be of a certain size. For example, a room smaller than 50 square feet (4.6 square metres) is not considered suitable for sleeping.
  • Children over the age of 10 of the opposite sex should not share a room.

The specific number of children that can share a bedroom can vary depending on these factors, but as a rule of thumb, it is important to ensure that the sleeping arrangements are comfortable and safe, and comply with the local housing regulations.

If you are in doubt, it is always best to consult with your local council or housing authority for specific guidance.

A third penned: “Is it judgment or just wisdom to not add to your family if you don’t have enough space already?”

Meanwhile a fourth claimed: “Yeah, no, I went through this and was raised like this. It’s hell.”

Another said: “Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.”

Someone else added: “Have y’all thought about idk, not having more kids?”
