Dr Ava Shamban is a highly sought-after celebrity dermatologist based in Beverly Hills.

Dr. Shamban explained the importance of adequate sleep and offered tricks to maximize your skincare even while snoozing with The U.S. Sun.

“The concept of ‘beauty sleep’ isn’t just a myth; it’s grounded in science,” Dr. Shamban told The U.S. Sun.
According to the expert, your skin utilizes these crucial hours to “repair and rejuvenate,” so it can address any skin damage from the day.
On top of that, she said you need to “create a conducive sleep environment” by ensuring your bedroom is dark, quiet, and at a comfortable temperature.
According to the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, circadian rhythms are physical, mental, and behavioral changes that follow a 24-hour cycle.
Aligning it with your skincare routine can have positive effects on your body.
“Adequate sleep promotes healthy blood flow to the skin, contributing to a fresh, rosy complexion upon waking,” the expert said.
But depriving yourself of sleep can also increase stress and potentially lead to acne and skin issues.
“Sleep is pivotal for the body’s repair mechanisms, including increased growth hormone production and immune system function,” Dr. Shamban added.
While you’re resting, your body produces natural collagen, which Dr. Shamban said is “vital for skin elasticity and youthfulness.”
It peaks during sleep, and poor sleep quality can have adverse effects.
Insufficient sleep disrupts this process, leading to decreased collagen production and compromised skin recovery from daily damage.
It can “accelerate skin aging, manifesting as uneven tone and reduced elasticity.”

Dr. Shamban also revealed some nighttime skincare habits to incorporate before bed, and understanding your circadian rhythm can be beneficial.

She provided five anti-aging steps to follow, so you can have vibrant skin.
First. remove any makeup, sunscreen, and oils from the day with a cleanser recommended for your skin type.
Then, she said to spot-treat any breakouts but allow your skin to dry for 20 minutes before applying active treatments.
