A MUM has divided opinion after revealing the “game-changer” bedtime routine hack she swears by for her toddler.

TikTok user Katie boasts more than 280,000 followers and regularly lifts the lid on life with her children – Amelia, two, and one-year-old Alexander.

The consultant in emergency medicine – who lives in Australia but is originally from Scotland – is also currently pregnant with baby number three.

In a recent video, she revealed that she dresses Amelia in the next day’s clothes instead of pyjamas when she puts her to bed.

Katie hailed the outfit routine as a “game-changer” and insisted it is “honestly the best parenting hack for us”.

She said: “This would have to be, by far the best parenting hack that I have ever learnt.

“For about six months now we’ve been putting Amelia to sleep in the clothes that we intend for her to wear the next day.

“It’s from roughly the age of two that we were finding she would get into her pyjamas and the next day would be such a struggle to get her pyjamas off and get her dressed and ready for the next day.

“She’s having such big feelings in the morning when it came time to take her pyjamas off and get dressed.”

She added: “It was exhausting and nobody needs to be exhausted by 8 o’clock in the morning.

“The night before we have her bath or shower or whatever, we get her ready for bed and we take her clothes off from the day and we get her dressed in the clothes for the next day.

“I can honestly say, hand on heart, that this parenting hack has been life-changing for us.

“Also, I found out that Ms Rachel does it, and we all know who Ms Rachel is.”

The beloved children’s TV star that mums and dads turn to for parenting advice, real name Rachel Griffin Accurso, revealed last year that she dresses her five-year-old son in his school uniform at bedtime, so that he’s ready for the next day.

And indeed, many parents have agreed with Ms Rachel and Katie, as the doctor’s clip racked up almost 200,000 views.

One said: “I did that when the kids were young. I also don’t mind if the kids go to sleep in their school uniforms for the following day. If it means mornings are easier then it’s a win.”

A second wrote: “I have three girls 7, 3 and 1 years old we have to leave the house by 7:15 in the morning ..so for us this was life changing as well..highly recommend.”

A third chimed in: “Omg, this was what we did for a little while! it was a game changer. Now, he’s excited for school and wants to get dressed. Everything is temporary.”

A fourth echoed: “I’ve been doing this with my kids for years. Especially on the one day we’re up at 5am. Best hack ever.”

While a fifth revealed: “This would have been so useful when my son was younger – wish I’d heard about it then!”

Other parents, however, have fumed that the hack is unhygienic, lazy and uncomfortable.

“I think this is one of those things class plays a huge part”, claimed one.

“If a council estate mum did this it would be considered unclean and neglectful.”

Someone else agreed: “I’m sorry this makes me crazy!! Kids sweat at night, beds have dead skin in them! Yucky.”

A third insisted: “Children sweat at night and deserve to start the day fresh. I would not sleep in clothes then go to work. It’s lazy.”

“I mean each to their own but I personally find this gross”, fumed a fourth.

“Also uncomfortable, pjs way comfier than clothes.”

And another asked: “Doesn’t she sweat in her clothes at night? Both of mine sweat so much at night I could never do this would seem so unhygienic even with a bath before bed.”

Katie defended the hack but admitted it is only temporary.

She said: “She’s nearly three now and she is getting a lot better so I think we will get back to wearing pyjamas very soon.

“But honestly, I’m just going to be guided by her.”
